Helical gears are ideally suited for very high speed and take up appreciable load, though their efficiency is lesser than that of spur mesh. Helical gears primarily connect to parallel shafts, with their teeth lying along helices. This type is to better Crossed helical gear avoided for precision meshes. Another feature being the point contact is of limited capacity and precision and therefore is suitable for right angle drives if the load is light. Good lubrication should always be ensured in use of helical gears.
